Our favorite Friends were big readers. After all, in the very first episode the first piece of furniture that Joey and Chandler assemble in Ross' new apartment is a bookcase. With Sept. I would have to commit to watching every single episode and record every literary reference I could find. An insane task, some might say, but like Joey facing down a Thanksgiving dinner, I was prepared for what lay ahead of me. Using Monica's meticulous nature as inspiration, I combed carefully through every episode and now can present to you every literary reference our Friends ever made. The only titles you'll find missing are the books that are, tragically, not real — such as Be Your Own Windkeeper and Rachel's naughty book — and reference books like the dictionary or encyclopedia book V specifically.

Friends - Phoebe writes a book about "Chester & Marsha"

The One Where Ross Meets Elizabeth's Dad

Monica: To Chandler You are going to make a joke about my special present! Why would you do that?! So are you psyched to fight fake crime with your robot sidekick? Joey: Am I psyched? The lead in my own TV series? Why have I not been preparing?!

Joey almost gets fired from "Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E." after offending the operator of the robot. Phoebe writes a book based on Monica and Chandler.

Sign in. Watch now. Elizabeth's dad meets Ross to tell him he doesn't like him going out with Elizabeth. Ross asks for a chance to impress Mr Stevens and he gives him 2 minutes to do so. Ross fails utterly even though the friends try to make him look good. When Rachel meets Mr Stevens again they talk for ages and start dating.

We all know Ross Geller is a giant geek. Frequently quoting theories of evolution, palaeontology and historical facts, Ross is a lover of books and grammatical correctness. Learning that his doctoral dissertation is in the university library, Ross goes to pay it a visit naturally. Deciding to defend his turf, Ross ends up fooling around with a student himself… The moral of the story is that books are bad and inevitably lead only to sex. In an attempt to win back their apartment, Monica and Rachel try to buy the apartment back with basketball tickets. After presenting him with a number of hypothetical situations, she accuses him of being dead inside. A woman of many unique talents, we learn in this episode that Phoebe has written fourteen books, all of which were very well received….
