Mowgli is a year-old boy who has been raised deep in the jungle of India by his animal friends: the wolf pack, Baloo the bear, and Bagheera the panther. Mowgli also has enemies in the jungle: Shere Khan , the vicious tiger who killed the boy's father; and the Bandar-log , monkeys that are hated by all other animals of the jungle. As Mowgli lies helplessly on the ground, Baloo, Bagheera, and the wolf pack arrive to rescue him. The next morning, Mowgli wakes up and goes hunting with the wolf pack.

A man he is travelling with mentions Buldeo and Harrison decides to find him. When Harrison arrives at Buldeo's house, he informs Buldeo that he had seen a 'wolf boy' whom he would like to take back to his circus in America. Buldeo tells Harrison that his brother was murdered by a ferocious tiger many years ago and that his son, Mowgli was lost in the jungle.

Mowgli and Baloo play in a pond splashing with the elephants after the chimps leave. The next morning, Mowgli and Grey Wolf like hunters set off on a trail. Shere Khan walks away plotting to get revenge on Mowgli.
