Medieval Scapini Tarot Pt. 1 (Deck Review)
Medieval Scapini Tarot
The Major Arcana and court cards have gold backgrounds in the manner of fifteenth-century European decks. Both the Major and Minor Arcana include full scenes. In the Minors, symmetrical arrangements of the suit symbols provide composition around which the scenes are arranged. The depth of Scapini's art history expertise is evident in his lush settings and period costumes. Interesting details, and sometimes-humorous references, are cleverly imbedded in the artwork, with many of the cards depicting historical figures, for example, Rasputin as the Knight of Cups.

It's a wonderful deck with a very authentic Middle Ages feel and look to the card artwork., View Full Version : Medieval Scapini - getting the right one.
This deck is such a delight, and I came across it completely by accident. It features figures in 15th century ish attire, and is decidedly medieval in tone. And the figures depicted in the cards have so much personality it almost hurts me to look at them. One thing that makes this deck truly unique is the design of the Minor Arcana. Even though this is a TdM deck, Scapini has painstakingly illustrated all of the Minor Arcana with vivid scenes. Here are a few more pictures. The Court cards are also beautifully done, set against the same gold background as the Majors.
